Former Australian Test cricketer Carl Rackemann announced on Tuesday he will contest the seat of Nanango, held by retiring independent Dorothy Pratt.
Mr Rackemann, 51, whose campaign will be launched next month in Kingaroy, said he had joined federal MP Bob Katter's fledgling party because it promised to protect landholders' rights and stop government assets being sold off.

But its advent was particularly driven by the Liberal National Party's desertion of rural and regional voters who no longer felt the National Party had any influence, she said. Share
